CALDWELL, Idaho -- A judge in Canyon County's 3rd District Court says a 34-year-old man can withdraw his guilty plea to child sex abuse charges.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports Joseph Howard Brown pleaded guilty in July to lewd conduct with a minor and sexual exploitation of a child. But his attorney, Gerald Bublitz, told the judge Monday that the terms of the plea agreement were unclear. Canyon County officials also said there was some confusion on the terms of the agreement.

Prosecutors charged Brown after police said he admitted to a business associate that he'd had a sexual relationship with the associate's stepdaughter. Prosecutors say in court documents that Brown groomed the girl for more than a year, starting when she was younger than 15.
