CALDWELL-- Construction for the College of Idaho's $3.5 million Athletics Center is officially underway.

Today the project was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony on Symms Field.

This will be the first new building on campus since the Village Apartments were completed in 2002.

The center will provide training and support facilities for the college's student-athletes, including the reinstated football team that begins competition in fall 2014.

The project is set to be complete in 11 months.
