YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK -- Concerns over visitor safety have prompted park officials to temporarily close a popular viewpoint along the north rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.

That's because a set of concrete stairs leading to the viewing platform and the platform itself have deteriorated over time, according to the park.

The area will be temporarily closed while repairs are made. It is not yet known when the area may reopen to visitors.
