BOISE -- A Mountain Home man was arrested Thursday after police say he attacked a student on a school bus.

Manuel Hernandez is charged with misdemeanor battery. He's being held in the Ada County Jail on $300 bond.

Police say Hernandez was on the bus when he grabbed a student and held him up by his neck. Another adult on the bus said the incident lasted a couple of minutes.

The boy suffered minor injuries but will be okay. He was evaluated by paramedics as a precaution.

Mountain Home School District Superintendent TIm McMurtrey says the bus was returning from a field trip in Boise. He said Hernandez is a parent that went on the trip.

At this point, it's not known what prompted the incident.
