PORTLAND -- One day after news broke of a Girl Scout cookie snafu, the community has rallied in a big way.

Long lines of cookie-buyers gathered Saturday outside the Girl Scouts headquarters on Barbur Boulevard.

On Friday, KGW told you about the cruel prank where someone ordered 6,000 boxes of cookies but then didn't follow through.

The girl scouts were left with $24,000 of unsold cookies after the official selling season had ended.

This is way beyond my expectations. (It s) very, very much appreciated, said Sara Miller with the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Washington.

The Girl Scouts sold about 3,000 boxes Saturday and plan to sell again next week.
