EAGLE -- Police took 56-year-old Gregory Vietz into custody after a 2-hour standoff at a home in the 2400 block of East Lennox Court in Eagle.

Ada County Sheriff's Office says he was threatening his roommate.

During the altercation, police say Vietz fired five to eight rounds from a gun into walls inside the house.

Detectives say the Vietz also pointed the gun at the older male and threatened him.

Ada County Sheriff's crisis negotiators talked with the suspect and he eventually agreed to come out of the home, but was uncooperative.

That is when a Garden City Police K-9 was sent after him.

Vietz was later taken to the hospital to be treated for a dog bite, and was said to be undergoing a mental evaluation.

Police say the 84-year-old man, who may have been a relative or roommate of Vietz, received minor injuries.
