BOISE -- D.J. Harper rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown and Joe Southwick threw for another score to lead No. 24 Boise State to a 20-10 victory over Fresno State Saturday.

Harper was the leader of a Boise State (5-1, 2-0 Mountain West) rushing attack that chewed up 215 yards on the ground and propelled the Broncos to their seventh straight victory over the Bulldogs.

I think we just stayed with it, said Harper. Early on, they kind of stuffed us a little bit. And I think the key was just staying with it. Our offensive line did a really good job of opening up creases, and really just being physical.

Southwick put the Broncos up in the first quarter when he fired a 10-yard touchdown to Geraldo Boldewijn in the left corner of the end zone. Southwick was 11 of 22 for 113 yards passing and one interception.

Harper then gave Boise State a 17-0 lead before the half with a nifty 28-yard TD run. Jay Ajayi added 82 yards on 14 carries for Boise State.

Boise State head coach Chris Petersen likes his team's work ethic.

I m really pleased with how hard they played, saidPetersen. I think it starts with our defense - those guys are playing extremely hard. Holding Fresno to 10 points is really impressive.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs (4-3, 2-1) out of a first-place tie with Nevada. The Bulldogs scored their only touchdown late when Derek Carr lobbed a 3-yard TD to Davante Evans. Carr was 29 of 43 passing for 266 yards and an interception.
