KUNA -- Ada County Sheriff's deputies say a badly-decomposed body was discovered in the New York Canal on Monday morning.

They say the unidentified adult was caught in a strainer near the Cloverdale Road bridge just north of the Falcon Crest Golf Club.

Andrea Dearden, spokesperson for the ACSO, said the victim appeared to have been in the water for an extended amount of time, making age, gender, and other identifying details impossible to determine on the scene.

Ada County dispatchers say canal workers spotted the body and called law enforcement around 8 a.m. Monday.

The sheriff's dept. dive team has recovered the body and turned it over to the Ada County Coroner for further investigation..

The exact location is near a small subdivision in a suburban area outside of Kuna near the intersection of Cloverdale Road and Kittredge Drive.

Ada County deputies are working with other local agencies to determine if the man could be connected to any unsolved cases.
