BOISE, Idaho -- A long-time employee of the federal courts in Idaho has been honored by the legal community for her dedication to strengthening the effectiveness of the justice system.

Susie Boring-Headlee is the alternative dispute resolution coordinator and pro bono coordinator for Idaho's U.S. District Court, helping those in lawsuits reach settlements without going to trial and finding free or reduced-fee legal counsel for people who can't afford attorneys.

On Friday, the Idaho Fourth District Bar Association presented Headlee with the 2012 Liberty Bell Award, citing her volunteer work with organizations like the Citizens Law Academy and the Idaho Legal History Society.

U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill said Headlee's efforts made the court's mediation program a model for courts nationwide, calling Headlee a tireless advocate for the judiciary.
