BOISE - Three Boise State players, including one starter won't play in the season-opening showdown against Georgia the school announced today.
Cedric Febis, Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe and Geraldo Boldewijn were not on the team charter to Atlanta for Saturday's game against the University of Georgia.
The trio are being held out of the game due to a review of their NCAAeligibility, according to sports information director Max Corbett. Further information on what that means was not available.
During a news conference in Georgia Friday morning, head coach Chris Petersen said a concern was raised a few days ago about the players and officials decided to take a look. Petersen did not say who raised the concern.
KTVB sports analyst Tom Scott notes Febis was set to start at strong safety, and an as-yet-unnamed player will be in the hot seat in the position to take his slot in the game.
All three players hail from Amsterdam and played high school football in the Treasure Valley.
