TWIN FALLS -- A Nevada man accused of fatally shooting a man during a standoff at an Idaho hotel last month is facing new charges for assaulting and spitting on a jail deputy.
Clark Cleveland was arraigned in 5th District Court Monday on one count of felony assault and propelling bodily fluids.
The Times-News reports that Cleveland is accused of repeatedly hitting Twin Falls County Jail Deputy Matthew White during dinner on Aug. 3. Investigators also say the 26-year-old inmate spat on White during the encounter.
Cleveland is being held in the jail on 11 separate felonies for his role in a July 15 standoff and shootout at a Twin Falls hotel.
Cleveland is charged with firing the gunshots that wounded a police officer and killed a Utah man during the standoff.
