Police arrested a Nampa man who has led police on multiple car chases and eluded capture for months.

Vincente Prieto was found Thursday night in a house in the 1700 block of 3rd Street South in Nampa. He surrendered to police at about 11 p.m.

Prieto was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower leg when he was found. Police say Prieto had shot himself several days earlier.

He was taken to a local hospital to treat infection in his leg, then booked into the Canyon County Jail.

Prieto was wanted on multiple warrants including felony eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, petit theft, driving without privileges, trespassing and traffic violations.

He evaded arrest most recently April 23. when he led officers on a high-speed chase through Nampa and sideswiped a car, police say. That chase was called off over concerns about the suspect s high speed and erratic driving.

Prieto was the subject of a similar car chase in February, police said.

More charges are likely pending against Prieto, who is currently held on a bond of more than $360,000.
