BOISE -- The victim in Monday bicycle crash has died after being struck and injured by an SUV Monday afternoon in Boise.
James Kelly's son called KTVBearly Tuesday morning, saying his father was on the bicycle and had passed away. A nursing supervisor at St. Alphonsus confirmed that Kelly had died.
The Ada County coroner says the 56-year-old died from blunt force trauma.
Police say the accident happened just before 1:30 p.m in the eastbound lanes of Federal Way at the Broadway Avenue offramp.
According to reports, the SUV was attempting to turn east onto Federal Way from the offramp when the driver hit the man on the bicycle. A red trailer attached to the back appeared to have grocery items inside.
Crash reconstruction experts were called to the scene to investigate.
Traffic in that area was slowed for a couple of hours. The roads have been cleared.
