BOISE -- Fire crews are still working to get a handle on two large wildfires that sparked near Fairfield last week.

Officials say the McCan Fire is now about 24,000 acres in size.

Firefighters say they're making good progress in many areas. The southern portion has been contained, and fire managers expect to contain the eastern portion in the next day or two.

More crews are arriving to help fight the Beaver Creek Fire northwest of Hailey which has now also burned about 24,000 acres.

Crews are working to protect Sage Grouse habitat in the area.

Both fires are burning in steep terrain making them difficult to fight.

Fire managers have planned three community meetings this week for those in Fairfield, Ketchum and Hailey. All meetings are at 7 p.m. beginning Tuesday in Fairfield and Ketchum.
