BOISE -- Custodians who will lose their jobs in the Nampa School District will have to apply to keeping working at their schools.

It's a story we've been following for months, Nampa Schools struggling to climb out of its $5 million budget deficit.

Back in April, KTVB told you the school board voted 3-to-2 to contract out custodial staff.

On Wednesday, the district finalized the contract with GCA Services Group, who will start providing janitorial service for the district July 1.

The school board says this move will likely save the district a little over $300,000 next school year.

This weekend, GCA is holding a job fair to hire current Nampa School District custodians.

Next on the chopping block, the possibility of contracting out nutrition services will be discussed at next Tuesday's board meeting.
