CALDWELL -- A 20-year-old Caldwell man is headed to prison for sexual abuse of a child under 16.

Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor said Tyler Robbins was sentenced Monday by Judge Molly Huskey. The judge gave Robbins a unified sentence of 15 years, with the first five years fixed.

Prosecutors say Robbins was originally charged with one count of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 and two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 16. The charges allege two separate instances of illegal sexual contact Robbins had with a 13-year-old girl, and another instance with a 4-year-old girl.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Robbins entered a guilty plea to one count involving the 13-year-old. The other two counts were dismissed, with the 4-year-old retaining all of her victim s rights.

The defendant poses a high risk to both young children and teenagers, said Taylor. Today s sentence ensures that for at least the next five years the children in our community will be protected from Mr. Robbins.

The case was investigated by the Caldwell Police Department.
