NAMPA -- A Nampa woman pleaded guilty Friday afternoon to killing her mother.

Kelly Singh was scheduled to stand trial later this month.

Friday's plea came after Singh met with prosecutors, who laid out the evidence they had against Singh, in their attempt to prove that she killed her mother Ruth Collins.

Part of that evidence included Singh confessing to police.

In court Friday, the judge asked Singh to tell, in her own words, what happened the night of February 29th.

I know that I had gotten into an argument with her and went into the bedroom, while intoxicated and from what I remember I grabbed a hammer and hit her in the head, Singh said.

As part of the plea agreement, she agreed to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison with the possibility of life.

Singh is scheduled to be sentenced in January.

During the sentencing, the judge can either accept that plea or impose a different sentence.
