TWIN FALLS -- Officials in the south-central Idaho city of Twin Falls have voted to remove parking meters.

The Times-News reports that the Twin Falls City Council on Monday voted to remove all of the meters that are about 40 years old.

City Manager Travis Rothweiler says workers will begin taking down the meters immediately.

Council members also voted to have city staff provide recommendations in 30 days suggesting parking limits based on location.

The council also voted to continue allowing the leasing of individual parking spaces.
