BOISE -- There's a new place for your dog to run around in the city of Boise.
A new fenced off-leash area has been opened at the undeveloped Sterling Park on W. Irving Street.
The area features a wood mulch surface, picnic tables, trees and a gravel parking area. Materials for the park and funding came from the Idaho Humane Society, the American Kennel Club and donations to the Boise Parks & Recreation Department. The area was built primarily by volunteers.
A master plan for the park was developed in 2010. When funding is available, the eight acres will feature a pond, walking paths, tennis and basketball courts, a picnic shelter, playground, a paved parking area and a spray park.
