BOISE -- Two local groups are giving people in Africa an opportunity to see things better.
Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation and Mission Aviation Fellowship worked together to send thousands of pairs of eyeglasses to the Congo and two other countries.
Lions members collected the used eyeglasses and Mission Aviation Fellowship is taking them to clinics they have in Africa.
We have collected 5,000 glasses and those are going to be split between the three countries and then the small Mission Aviation aircraft are going to be used to actually fly them into difficult to reach areas of those three countries, said Tom Porter, Mission Aviation Fellowship Advocate.
The two groups say the project has been in the works for several months and most of the glasses are ready to go, with the first shipment sometime in the near future.
