LEWISTON, Idaho -- The administrator of the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston resigned a month after an inspection team found 17 deficiencies, but state Division of Veterans Services officials aren't saying why she left.
The Lewiston Tribune reports the most serious violations uncovered in the inspection earlier this year were corrected immediately and many were relatively minor. One of the more serious involved allegations that a nurse was abusive toward a patient.
The nurse was investigated and fired last September.
Administrator Sarah Yoder resigned in March. Veterans Services human resources officer Tracy Schaner says it is not unusual to have turnover at long-term care facilities, but would not say whether Yoder's resignation was related to the inspection.
Schaner has taken over running the veterans home as the interim administrator.
