IDAHO FALLS -- The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday morning that one of the victims from Tuesday night's boating accident on Ririe Reservoir succumbed to her injuries.

According to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, multiple agencies responded to the reservoir just before 6p.m.

Investigators say Blaine Peterson was operating a Glastron Boat. He had four people in the boat and was pulling a tube with two 14-year-old girls on it. He was headed toward Juniper Boat Ramp in an area known as the Narrows. He was negotiating a curve.

Richard Hansen was operating a Glastron Boat. He had eight people in his boat. He was heading toward Blacktail from the Juniper area. As he was coming around the corner near the bank, he came within ten yards of the first boat. He immediately shut down the power to his boat. His boat collided with the tube that the girls were on.

Both girls hit the front of the boat. Both girls were unconscious and breathing. Multiple people helped get the girls out of the water. Another boat transported both girls to the Juniper Boat Dock. The girls had head injuries. One was treated and released last night. The second girl passed away this morning.
