CALDWELL -- A 55-year-old male driver was cited for inattentive driving after colliding with a school bus filled with children at a rural Caldwell intersection Tuesday morning.

Canyon County Sheriff's deputies responded to the accident at 7:26 a.m. at the intersection of Purple Sage and Wagner roads where a 2013 Toyota Corolla was hit by a school bus.

Lt. Bill Adams says none of the 28 children on the bus or their driver was injured.

The 55-year-old complained of leg pain and was treated by paramedics for a cut to his leg at the scene. The man's name has not been released.

Adams says the initial investigation shows the driver of the Toyota was southbound on Wagner Road and failed to yield at a stop sign. When he pulled into the intersection the bus struck the right rear of the car. Adams says that is not a four-way stop and conditions were pretty good in the area this morning.

The bus is operated by the Middleton Bus Company and was taking children to Purple Sage Elementary School.
