MIDDLETON -- Election officials in southwest Idaho's Canyon County say it appears a do-over vote will be needed to determine the winner in a school board election.

The Idaho-Press Tribune reports that 23 Middleton voters were assigned to the wrong school zone in Tuesday's election that ended in a tie for a trustee position.

Canyon County Chief Deputy Clerk Brad Jackson says the number of voters in the wrong place is high enough to trigger another election.

But he says he's waiting for the Idaho Secretary of State to tell them how to go forward.

The school board election ended in a tie between Marc D. Gunning and Steve Cluff.
