EMMETT The city of Emmett lost 500 jobs when the Boise Cascade plant, the area s largest employer, shutdown its mill 12 years ago.
In the meantime, several plans to restart the mill have failed.
However, according to Idaho Lt. Gov. Brad Little, the latest attempt has worked.
Little, who is also one of Emmett s more noteworthy citizens, says 45 mill workers will be back to work at the plant beginning June 1st. Little also says that means 45 jobs will be created that range in salary from $30,000 to $70,000
Dick Vinson is the present of Emerald Forest Products, Inc. Vinson says in two weeks his new mill will begin turning out wood building products. The mill is located in the shadow of the old Boise Cascade plant.
