A Boise man is behind bars after officers searching for a stolen car found him intoxicated behind the wheel.
Jeremy James Debban, 28, was arrested late Monday night after a Boise resident reported a car stolen from a home near Cherry Lane and South Vista Avenue.
The victim told police an acquaintance might have taken the car. Officers spotted a vehicle matching the description a short time later near West Overland and South Curtis Roads, and pulled it over.
Debban was in the driver's seat, officers said, and smelled strongly of alcohol. He failed several field sobriety tests, and a breath test detirmined his blood alcohol level to be .218/.212.
Police identified the car as the one reported stolen, and also discovered Debban had taken money belonging to the car's owner from the vehicle.
Debban was charged with felony grand theft and misdemeanor counts of DUI, petit theft, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently being held in the Ada County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond, and is set to appear in court June 24.
