IDAHO FALLS -- A Blackfoot man who shot and killed a 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
A judge handed down the sentence for Adan Arroyo in a 7th District courtroom Thursday morning.
In February, Arroyo pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in exchange for prosecutors dropping a deadly weapon enhancement and agreeing to not seek the death penalty.
The agreement required Arroyo to give a full accounting of what happened on Jan. 19, 2013, when Kristy Aschliman of Idaho Falls was shot four times and left for dead on the side of a road near Ammon.
Witnesses testified that Arroyo chased Aschliman while shooting her, and when she fell to her knees, he shot her in the head.
