HAILEY,Idaho -- Sheriff Gene Ramsey says he was in an Albertsons in Hailey when he met several members of a hotshot crew looking for bandanas.

The next day, Sheriff Ramsey put out the call for extra bandanas for fire crews. Ramsey says he thought it would be an easy thing to donate for those who wanted to pitch in.

He never expected to get 8,000 bandanas.

I didn't expect that sort of response at all, but the public's been fantastic, and the outpouring -- We've had companies send them -- I've got bandanas, I've got like three of them, from Louisiana! Ramsey said.

The bandanas have come in from across the country. Now, firefighters have so many, they've been able to give some to the crews in Atlanta, Idaho.
