BOISE -- A semitrailer crash in Eastern Oregon Monday morning sent a Caldwell man and his wife to the hospital with minor injuries.
Oregon State Police say 46-year-old Alberto Gamez, of Caldwell, was driving a semitrailer with his wife and daughter on Interstate 84, near Pendleton, when he got two flat tires on his trailer. Gamez was traveling 5 mph and trying to get to a local tire repair shop.
Police say that is when a tanker trunk being driven by 38-year-old Wade Wood, from Ontario, who was looking at his phone and did not notice how slow Gamez was driving, crashed into the back of his truck, spilling the contents all over the interstate.
Both men were cited, after being treated for minor injuries.
Pendleton Fire & Ambulance, Umatilla Tribal Fire Department, Oregon Department of Transportation assisted OSP troopers.
