BOISE -- Long-time KIDO radio host Jon Duane died over the weekend after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Jon had one of the valley's most recognized voices and names.
He spent 16 years with his co-host Chris Kelly doing morning drive time and other shows including town halls and remotes.
Jon was a good friend of ours and a frequent panelist on our political debates.
He was also a partner of Mark Johnson on a benefit series of golf tournaments to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs. Two of his passions were golf and non profits.
The day Jon and Chris were taken off the air in 2007, he talked about the 16-year run.
And you go 'gee whiz, I don't know what I'm going to do, but it feels good to kinda do nothing, said Jon.
Jon Hellhake, who's on-air name was Jon Duane, was a friend to thousands.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on Chinden Boulevard in Meridian.
Jon was two weeks away from turning 69.
