VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- A Boise man died Monday in an accident on a challenging backcountry cycling trail in Vancouver, British Columbia's North Shore mountains.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Richard De Jong says the 38-year-old Jeffrey Fields was wearing a helmet but suffered severe head and neck injuries when he fell from a balance board similar to a teeter-totter in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park in North Vancouver.

He was unconscious when he was found by other bikers and died before he could be carried off the mountain.
