NEWYORK, NY -- Former Boise State defensive back Brandyn Thompson has been selected by the Washington Redskins with the 213th choice in the NFLDraft.
He was the 10th pick of the seventh round and told KTVB he was not camped out in front of the television when he got 'the call'.
I was actually outside sitting on my pick-up truck with my Mom kind of just sitting by the phone sitting outside hoping we'd get a phone call, said Thompson. [Finally] I got the phone call. It was coach Shanahan on the phone and he told me congratulations and welcome to the Redskins and I am just thankful.
Thompson was a four year starter at Boise State and played for the Broncos when they beat Virginia Tech last fall at FedEx Field. So he already has good memories from the Redskins home stadium.
We had a good run on FedEx Field the one time I played on it for Boise, said Thompson. So I hope I have the same kind of luck. Same kind of success.
Thompson was the third and final BSUplayer selected in the draft.
