ONTARIO, Ore. -- Ontario Police say a Pocatello man who died after he was hit by a train early Sunday morning intentionally put himself in the path of the train.
It happened at the SE 5th Avenue crossing just before 2:45 a.m.
Police say they heard the train braking and, when they went to investigate, were told by the conductor that the train had just struck a person on the track.
After a search of the area, officers found 35-year-old Joel Guerrero. Police said he died at the scene.
An investigation revealed that Guerrero was staying in Ontario and employed at a temporary job site.
