BOISE -- Boise Mayor Dave Bieter is celebrating the city's 150th birthday by walking 150 miles over the course of the year, and he's inviting Boise residents to join him in the challenge.
The Walk 150 program is designed to encourage kids and adults to improve their health.
The kickoff event took place Monday morning at Jefferson Elementary School.
Bieter says it's a great way to get in shape and celebrate Boise's history at the same time.
If you're interested in taking part, there's a website set up where you can sign up and track the miles you've walked during the year.
