BOISE -- Catholics around the world are reacting to the shocking news that Pope Benedict XVI is stepping down.
Bishop Michael Driscoll of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise says he has met the Pope on several occasions over the past 8 years.
At a news conference posted on YouTube yesterday, Driscoll described the Pope's decision to step down as a complete shock, considering no other pope has done so in 600 years.
His holiness, Pope Benedict has been a great writer; he's been a great leader; he's very spiritual and it takes a lot of humility to step down from his role and his agenda to be a good leader for the church, Driscoll said.
Pope Benedict says he will step down on February 28th.
Soon after, the Cardinals will elect a new Pope.
