BOISE -- Starting Wednesday, people living in Gem County can be more proactive about protecting themselves and their family.
Officials are implementing a national public safety service, called Smart 911.
It is a national database that allows users to create a free safety profile, including basics like your name, number and address, but also emergency contacts, any prior medical conditions and even your photos.
It is already available in 22 other states and on Wednesday Gem will join Elmore County in offering the service.
