GARDEN CITY -- Garden City is celebrating its second federal grant in three years.
The latest grant will be used to build the West Bridge that will connect stretches of the Greenbelt on both sides of the Boise River.
Garden City Mayor John Evans says this is the missing link along the Greenbelt.
From the east end of town clear through the west end of town and then when this bridge is in over the river to connect to the Eagle pathway system, said Evans. Commuters and recreational riders that actually want to go from one place to another will have a great avenue to do that without having to interface any major street crossings.
The Federal Highway Administration is giving Garden City over $700,000 to build the West Bridge.
The plan for the bridge is still in the design phase.
Evans says it will look similar to the recently built 36th Street Bridge.
