BOISE -- A five-year-old Nampa boy critically injured in a car crash on Highway 55 Monday morning has died at a Boise hospital, according to Lt. Dan Smith with the Valley County Sheriff's Office.
Raphael Duran Alonso died Thursday at St. Luke's in Boise from injuries sustained in the accident.
The crash happened 11 miles south of Cascade just before 11:30 a.m. on June 9.
Raphael's mother, Michelle Alonso Lopez, 21, and Nathaniel Ortiz, 4, were also killed.
Nathaniel's dad, Juan Ortiz, remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Lopez and Ortiz were reportedly dating and had spent the weekend with the children in McCall and were heading home when the crash occurred.
A couple from Bend, Oregon, was in another vehicle. They were taken to a hospital in Cascade and treated and released.
Lt. Smith says speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. He says Ortiz was southbound in a Toyota Corolla when he lost control of his Toyota Corolla going into a curve. The Toyota slid into the path of an oncoming Honda Accord. The Honda hit the Toyota on the passenger side of the car.
The crash remains under investigation.
Detectives want to speak with anyone who may have seen the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Valley County Sheriff's Office.
