BOISE -- An Idaho birthing center has a new name after midwives there were suspended following an investigation into babies that died.
According to the secretary of state's office, a certificate of organization for New Beginnings Baby Place LLC was filed June 5, using the same address as The Baby Place in Meridian.
In March, The Baby Place's owner, Coleen Goodwin, and her daughter, Jerusha Goodwin, had their midwife licenses suspended by Idaho after three babies in their care died.
Separately, they also agreed to a $5 million settlement in April with a couple that sued after their baby suffered brain damage.
Meridian police said Friday they've forwarded their criminal investigation into one of the deaths to Ada County prosecutors.
Calls seeking comment on the Goodwins' involvement in New Beginnings weren't returned.
