BOISE Boise Police detectives say they have arrested a man wanted for passing counterfeit checks in the area over the past week.

Gregory Mackay, 36, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into the Ada County Jail on five felony charges. He is charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of forged checks, and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine.

Detectives were able to link Mackay to a series of crimes. On March 10, a man passed four suspicious checks at a retail store on N. Eagle Road. With the help of the chain store's employees in Boise and Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mackay was identified as a suspect.

During his arrest, officers found a small amount of meth on Mackay.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
