RATHDRUM, Idaho -- The FBI joined in the search for fugitive authorities consider armed and dangerous.

Mitchell Walck has a violent history that involves assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Officers said Walck shot at an ISP trooper in Rathdrum early Saturday morning after leading authorities on a pursuit. The trooper was not hurt.

Walck ran off into the woods and up Rathdrum Mountain.

Kootenai County Sheriff s deputies said sometime after that, Walck forced a Rathdrum woman into her home and held her at gunpoint for hours until investigators left. He allegedly kidnapped the woman as the two drove off in her 2005 silver Subaru Forester.

Investigators said Walck drove to Montana with the 62-year-old woman before letting her go, unharmed, in Glendive.

Walck was last seen driving the victim s car with Idaho license plate K230050.

Detectives said Walck is armed with a handgun, and two rifles he stole from the victim s home.

A bulletin put out by the Coeur d Alene Police Department said Walck is a Sovereign Citizen , a group the FBI considers anti-government. The same bulletin suggests Walck could also have ties to local Aryan Nations.

Authorities said Walck may have changed his appearance by shaving his facial hair and dying his hair black.

He is wanted on a Felony probation violation warrant out of Sanders County, MT. The Montana Department of Corrections shows Walck was sentenced to 10 years in prison for assaulting a peace officer in 2001.
