CANYONCOUNTY -- Five Caldwell firefighters plan to ride more than 900 miles from Canyon County to San Francisco, CA to benefit sick kids.

The Cycling for Hearts ride was created to benefit the Jayden DeLuca Foundation, which provides financial support for children and families battling heart diseases.

Jayden DeLuca of Boise passed away in 2007 when she was just two years old.The young girl was scheduled to make the trip from Boise to San Francisco for a life-saving heart and lung transplant.

Now, all five firefighters are making the trip for her on their road bikes. A send-off event is planned for Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Rolling H Cycles in Nampa.

The five Caldwell firefighters will start their nearly two week journey around 10 o'clock. They hope to arrive in San Francisco on June 12. All money raised by the ride will go directly to the Jayden DeLuca Foundation to help families in need.
