ONTARIO, Oregon -- Officials have reopened a 167-mile stretch of Interstate 84 eastbound Tuesday shortly after 9:30 a.m.

The announcement comes after the Oregon Department of Transportation closed I-84 from Ontario to Pendleton early Tuesday morning due to a crash and semi blocking both lanes.

Oregon State Police officials say a Fed Ex truck pulling two trailers was eastbound on I-84 when the trailers began to jackknife. Another semi truck traveling behind crashed into one of the trailers, splitting it open and spilling its contents along the freeway. Neither driver was injured.

Authorities ask travelers to expect hazardous road conditions with patches of dense fog and spots of black ice in some areas, particularly between Pendleton and La Grande and other high elevations. Black ice has also been reported on other eastern Oregon highways. Drive with extra caution.
