BOISE -- Two early-morning crashes on a stretch of Interstate 84 just outside of Boise caused major traffic delays during much of Tuesday's commute.

A three-vehicle accident on eastbound I-84 briefly closed both lanes of the freeway about one mile northwest of the Gowen Road exit just before 8:15 a.m.

Both lanes reopened around 9 a.m.

Firefighters were said to be rescuing a driver who was stuck in a vehicle. The extent of that person's injuries isn't known at this time.

Another crash caused chaos just across the freeway earlier in the morning.

That's when a semitrailer, hauling a load of what appears to be fabric softener, crashed and rolled on I-84 westbound near GowenRoad early Tuesday morning.

Idaho State Police say the accident happened just before 5 a.m.Both lanes of the freeway were closed for nearly two hours afterward.

At this time, one westbound lane is open as crews continue to clean up the spilled freight.

Reports indicate the driver may have seen a deer in the road, causing him to swerve and crash. Police say he wasn't injured.
