BOISE -- A 35-year-old man charged with murder will now be getting a mental evaluation.

Shawn Fisher is accused of shooting and killing another man in the middle of a Boise street.

Fisher was in Judge Ronald Wilper's court Tuesday morning for a plea hearing. Instead, his attorney asked for Fisher to have a mental evaluation.

Judge Wilper granted that request, and Fisher was ordered to complete the evaluation in 30 days.

Investigators say on February 18, 2013, Fisher rear-ended a stranger on Vista Avenue in a road-rage incident. Authorities say he then pulled a gun and fired a shot, blowing out his own car window.

Fisher was arrested in a south Boise neighborhood several hours later. That's where homeowners say he was seen yelling and threatening several people.

The third crime scene linked to the case is on Franklin Road, where the victim, 28-year-old Matthew Mohler-Kearns, was found shot in the head inside his car.

Fisher faces several charges including first-degree murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault.

During a court proceeding on April 16, Fisher interrupted Judge Ronald Wilper several times and was taken out of the courtroom for over an hour before returning.

Fisher is scheduled to be back in court on June 11.
