MOUNTAIN HOME -- Dozens of people gathered in Mountain Home today for a soldier's funeral.

The Westboro Baptist Church, notorious for picketing at soldiers' funerals, sent out a press release that they'd be at Sergeant Chris Carriers funeral in Mountain Home.

Friends of Carrier, bikers, and other residents came to make sure the church didn't interfere with the funeral.

We're out here supporting the burial of a fallen soldier, fallen friend, trying to keep the people away that would picket otherwise to prevent his family from laying him at rest in peace, said Molly Harman.

The church members never showed up, but folks who gathered there today, say it shows Mountain's Home support of our armed forces.

Plans for the gathering started on Facebook through the Green Knights Motorcycle Club.
