KUNA -- A freak accident near Kuna Sunday afternoon sent one person to the hospital.

A car traveling about 40 miles per hour on Black Cat Road near Kuna Road was hit by a falling tree branch.

Four people were in the car when the branch crashed through the windshield, deputies said.

It appears there had been agricultural burn yesterday that went out, however some of the embers weakened the tree and caused it to fall over onto a passing vehicle, said Sgt. John Harris with the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

The driver's hand was injured by the tree branch, but he was able to safely pull off the side of the road.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment. No one else was hurt.
