BOISE -- With five days until Christmas, a group of Boise kids are putting paper and bows on gifts they bought during a special shopping trip today.

Boise Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers took more than 140 children to Target Thursday afternoon, to buy gifts, clothes and toiletries.

Each child was given a $30 gift card for the shopping trip.

These are children that we have worked with school counselors and worked with our own staff in identifying children that we believe are most vulnerable, from a standpoint that may or may not have a real good Christmas this year, said Doug Holloway with Boise Parks & Recreation.

The money comes from community donations and from parks and recreation employees.
