PAYETTE, Idaho -- The Idaho State Police and Payette County Sheriff's Office are investigating what's believed to be a homicide case involving a 45-year-old woman.
Police have identified the victim as 45-year-old Elizabeth Ann Baune from Payette.
Deputies were called to a home north of Payette just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. They say Baune's roommate called 911, and told dispatchers she thought Baune was dead.
When deputies arrived, they confirmed the 45-year-old had died.
Upon investigation, the sheriff's office concluded Baune's death was suspicious. It's now being investigated as a homicide.
Payette County Sheriff Chad Huff says Baune lived in a home with several roommates, and all are cooperating with the investigation.
Early Thursday morning, the sheriff's office obtained a search warrant for the home.
Huff says his department is now asking the public for help finding a turquoise, 2002 Honda Passport with Idaho license plate 1P73311.
Huff says he's also trying to locate a person of interest in the case, but hasn't released the man's identity.
He's a person of interest for sure -- but we definitely haven't labeled him a suspect, Huff said, adding he had reason to believe the man may no longer be in the area.
Investigators from Payette County Sheriff's Office, Payette Police Department, Fruitland Police Department and Idaho State Police are currently investigating this homicide case.
Huff is asking anyone who may have information about the case to contact the Payette County Sheriff's Office at (208) 642-6008.
Officers with the Idaho State Police are leading the investigation.
