BOISE -- Police say a man driving a late-model blue sedan mistakenly accelerated through an intersection, hit a red truck, and then smashed into a tree Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the intersection of Linden and Broadway streets at approximately 7:45 a.m.

They found the man had crashed into a small tree next to the Jack in the Box restaurant on Broadway Street.

Police say the man had to be extricated from the vehicle, and was then taken to a local hospital.

Brittany Herrera is a team leader at Jack in the Box. Herrera said she heard the crash, and then looked out the store window and saw the man trapped in his car.

The gentleman that was driving the car went through the intersection, took out one of our trees, and then crashed into a light post, Herrera said.

Herrera said firefighters had to cut the door off the man's car with the jaws of life to get him out. Afterward, she said the man appeared to be having a medical emergency. He was twitching and having a post-crash attack, she said.

We're working to provide more details about other possible victims in the crash. Check back with KTVB.COM for more details.
